Woodsilks

Woodsilks

The one of a kind lamp and sconce are hand painted on silk using resists and dyes. The silk is steam set and washed for maximum color fastness. The painted silk is backed with several layers of white opaque plastic. It is either shaped into wings for the wall sconce or formed to fit a ceramic base which holds a UL approved socket and includes 13 watt fluorescent bulb. The edges are finished with suede and rayon trim. The body used for the sconce is one of 40 resin castings created from sculpted ceramic. The printed silk lamps are created from one of Barbara's original lamps in signed limited editions of 100. They're printed with archival inks and backed with white opaque plastic, edge with rayon & suede trim and include a 9 watt fluorescent bulb. Except for the wheel thrown ceramic base and the cast body of the sconce all work is done by Barbara at her studio in Santa Fe, NM.
