Bonnie Belt
Working in clay has been her passion for over twenty years. Starting at Cal Poly, Pomona, where she received her degree, she has continued to expand her knowledge of the ceramic medium. She studied with Ning Yeh, Master Oriental brush painter from Huntington Beach, California, where she learned the subtleties of brushwork along with internalizing the Oriental philosophy, that continues to influence her sculptural work. To strengthen her ceramic knowledge she attended Mohave Valley College in Arizona, and Victor Valley College, California, under the direction of her mentor artist Gene Kleinsmith. A fascination with nature and trees has pervaded most of her 30-year career in art. She attended ceramics courses at college; later studied Chinese brush painting, from which she learned the subtleties of brushwork and the Chinese philosophy that influences her work.
